Project Description
This project proposes bringing the Museum of Interesting Things in Manhattan into the modern day digital space with the integration of a digital collections management system (CMS) called CatalogIt.
The collection consists of many different types of items, all with a purpose of hands on learning of the past through antiques and inventions. Their mission includes bringing the museum to visitors, rather than vice verse; “a traveling show – like a circus… just no elephants!” as Denny Daniel, the founder likes to say.
CatalogIt is an affordable system that, from utilizing it for a collection of items from my own home, I can attest is user friendly. The implementation of a CMS would provide an organized and searchable record of the objects in their collection and allow them to expand their travel virtually, bringing more audiences to The Museum of Interesting Things.
